Illegal

without comments

The Charite (big Berlin hospital) is in trouble. The giant ad on the scaffolding is illegal. Since 5 months the hospital has no permission to show the big ad. Nobody works on the facade. The scaffolding seems to be a fake for just renting the facade to billboard companies.

Illegal! Cool! Hey that’s almost a guerilla street art marketing campaign. ;-)

While googeling I stumbled across some old posts from kunst-blog.com
( a well known german art blog ). It seems like all ‘old’ posts don’t show any images by default. The text in the box says something like: “Due to copyright laws images may only be used for free for a short period during the time the event is taking place.” (My lawyer english is not very good.) Is this standard on the net and for blogs now? Do I have to erase images of art pieces I posted about a year ago? Hmm…

How about images disolving from your favorite printed magazin after a half a year? …

I got my ticket to Ars Electronica Linz today. This will be my first time to AEC as a plain visitor and I am looking forward to have plenty of time to talk to everybody and to enjoy the festival. Last year was a great oppportunity to show so much work but unfortunately I missed the whole festival. ;-)

See you in Linz 4.-9.9.2008

DIGIGRIPPER from olafval on Vimeo.

A beautiful project by Olaf Val. Climbing on a screen while depending on the changing pixels is a very physical way of interacting with the digital space. I like Olafs work a lot. He has a nice series of screen pieces and is quite involved in physical computing (arduino workshops) and more. Thanks for the invitation to Kassel, Olaf! See you around!

Full documentation of Digigripper PDF.

“A human sized 5 x 7 dot-matrix display becomes a climbing wall. The individual display dots protrude from the wall and thus form steps and handles to allow the climber to hold on to the display. However, if one uses an unilluminated dot, this dot will cave in, causing the climber to slip and to tumble to the ground. Prior to climbing the display one has to memorise a continuous series of letters, as this is the only way to change the dots one is holding on to in time for the next change of letters. In doing so one can key into a terminal a short sentence. Whoever manages to hold onto the display the longest is the winner. The longer one holds on to the display the quicker the change of letters.”
