Google Maps is sick
It looks like google maps has a serious disease. Swineflu maybe? Some days ago red dots (smallpox?) appeared in the (inter)face. Uhh … looks awful. Someone please call the doctor!
(Hey Google!! You can’t just change the interface without asking. What am I supposed to do with my “Map” installation now ???!! You already messed up the navigation cross a while ago!! OMG … HELP !!!)
;-)
"Map" at inSPIRACJE
inSPIRACJE festival in Szczecin, Poland (just 150 km from Berlin) was great fun. On its 5th edition the festival showed work of more than 65 artists in over 20 venues in the city. I am please to show the “Map” installation which marks out the center of the city at Pl. Żołnierza Polskiego. It’ll stay there for 3 months in public so the people of Szczecin will find their way ;-) . The piece came out very well and the team of inSPIRACJE did a great job on it.
Thx a lot to Joanna Trela, international coordination!
Thx a lot to Rafał Roguszka for production coordination!
Thx a lot to to Bartek Kalejta and the rest of the logistic team, which did a great job!
Thx a lot to the whole inSPIRACJE team to make this possible!!!
and thx for the great hospitality!
This time a bit more highres, “Map” at inSPIRACJE.art.pl. More pics to come ….
7-10 Millionen
This picture looks like a 1997 (compuserve-) GIF but was actually taken today by a mobile phone cam and then send via MMS (probably compressed again) to me. “Map” is up and running! It marks out what Google considers to be the center of the polish city Sczcecin. From Berlin it’s just a 2h trip by train and by Brandenburgticket (35,- / 5 people) very cheap to go there. Think about it! inSPIRACJE festival !

We’re famous
And more Google map marker conquer public space. Hmm … is this just a poster from the shop owner or a advertisment campaign by Google? I thought they are not running campaigns? Are you famous because you are on google map? I doubt that.
Anyway, Berlin is going to be famous too. The Google car with 6 digi cams on the roof for Google Streetview has been spotted in Berlin. A big discussion on the privacy issue (take care of your cats!) has started already.
Ok, let s have some messages, signs and posters ready for Google …
Hey, this is going to be a huge ‘screentshot’ of Berlin streetart 2008. Let’s get to work …
